Northern White Cedar has long been the first choice for beautiful custom wood fencing, backyard items, and siding, because Cedar is Naturally Maintenance Free. No other fence looks more natural in a wooded area than a Cedar fence. You'll enjoy its low maintenance qualities...no painting, no sealing, no staining! Your custom wood fence will weather to a natural silver-gray color which will enhance your property with an elegant look. Create your own special entrance with the addition of posts, caps, gates and/or arbors.

Northern White Cedar is renewable, and some White-Cedar swamps have already been harvested up to five times since colonial days. The White Cedar harvested now is identical to the material harvested hundreds of years ago. Mature White-Cedar stands contain relatively younger, smaller specimens because the trees do not have the same tendency to live thousands of years and grow to mammoth proportions.

Considering the environmental considerations, performance and aesthetic attributes makes northern-white cedar the superlative choice for fencing and many other external applications.

NORTHERN WHITE CEDAR (Thuja occidentalis) - This remarkable tree occurs in wet sites as well as dry limestone ridges throughout the Northeast including New Brunswick, Michigan, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. It has the lightest wood coloring of northern timbers and is one of the most resistant to decay. It is recognized as being particularly valuable for fences, poles, posts, shingles, canoes, boat building and, in fact, any situation where wood is exposed to weathering and decay.

“The” Fence Timber - Northern White Cedar is a relatively small tree averaging about 45 feet in height. Consequently, it is ideal for products requiring small board size and short lengths and has, in large measure, displaced more expensive timbers which should be used where larger size is essential. In addition, modern milling and product development have resulted in the virtual elimination of waste!

No Chemicals Please - Cedar contains natural preservatives which make it one of the most decay and insect-resistant woods available. Consequently, there is no need to treat the wood with toxic chemicals which can harm the environment.

Natural Reseeding - Cedar is a prolific tree which produces copious quantities of seed and broad distribution. As a result, wet and limestone areas which have been harvested, rapidly reseed with young trees from natural parentage. No genetic engineering required!

Workability - Combined with its light weight, cedar is a durable softwood which can be easily worked with hand or power tools. A craftsman's delight!

Natural Beauty - Last (but certainly not least) cedar is a naturally beautiful wood. It has handsome grain and texture and, left to weather naturally, it bleaches to an attractive silver gray which blends naturally with every landscape, historic or new.
